'The Wrestler' wins Venice Film Fest top award

VENICE, Italy �

Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" has won the top honor at the Venice Film Festival.


The picture show awarded the Golden Lion on Saturday stars Mickey Rourke as a wrestler forced into retirement world Health Organization strikes up a romance language with an aging stripper played by Marisa Tomei.


Russia's Aleksey German Jr. south Korean won the prize for best director for "Bumaznyj soldat (Paper Soldier)," a tale set in the early days of the quad program in the Soviet Union.


Italian Silvio Orlando was crowned topper actor for his theatrical role in Pupi Avati's "Il Papa' di Giovanna," (Giovanna's Father), more or less a father's relationship with his troubled adult daughter.


France's Dominique Blanc won topper actress for playing a jealousy-struck charwoman in "L'Autre (The Other One)," directed by Patrick Mario Bernard and Pierre Trividic.
